HOW TO USE FULLDIP

HOW TO USE FULLDIP® LIQUID VINYL?

  1. CLEAN THE SURFACE TO BE PAINTED

Before you start to spray the vinyl on, it is very important to clean all surfaces perfectly, making sure it’s dry and free of dirt, dust, grease, waxes, cleaning products or anything that might interfere with the adherence of the vinyl. Take your time to degrase every corner. Then, dry thoroughly.

IMPORTANT SPECIFICATIONS: if the surface to paint is in good condition and original colour is smooth and even, you might not need to apply a white or black colour base, always considering colorimetry tendencies. In contrast, if the paint is faded or uneven, we recommend applying white or grey liquid vinyl as a base, before layering the desired colour. This will guarantee the final result is uniform and solid, but the hue may vary depending on the base.

NEON colours always require a white base, as they do not have a strong pigmentation power by themselves. This colour range has a shorter lifespan due to the direct exposure to sunlight. To prevent neon FullDip® from fading or bleaching and keeping it in neat condition for longer, we recommend reapplying 2 layers every 6 months approximately.

  1. TOLERANCE TEST

FullDip® Liquid Vinyl can be layered on multiple kinds of surfaces, such as metal, plastic, glass, wood, etc. Nevertheless, is always advised to do a previous test on a small section. Once it’s fully dry, FullDip® can be easily peeled of any non-porous surface.

HOW TO USE FULLDIP® 400ML AEROSOLS (14 UK fl.oz.)

  1. Shake well

Shake vigorously FullDip® before use. Before the first use, make sure to shake for at least two minutes so all components and pigments are homogeneously mixed. You will hear steel balls moving and mixing the fluid.

If temperature is below 10ºC it is recommended to apply moderate heat (e. g. hair dryer) on the aerosol in order to reach the optimal temperature for application.

  1. Spraying

Start layering the liquid vinyl spraying it on the surface, leaving 20-25 cm of distance. The more layers you apply, the easier it will be to peel off in the future. Around 4-6 layers is ok.

Let sit to dry 10 minutes between layers. After 10-30 it will be dry to the touch, but complete drying of the paint takes around 24 hours.

The first layer should be thin and uniform. This layer will guarantee perfect adhesion and the following layers will give depth to the colour.

IMPORTANT: When using FullDip® Liquid Vinyl, we recommend using a mask.

  1. Drying and colour setting

In order to ensure a suitable molecular stability, FullDip® needs to be let sit and dry for at least 6 hours before being exposed to temperature changes, handling, etc. This fact is vital to guarantee a neat finish, adhesion and durability. Total drying and colour setting is considered after the first 12 hours, but for best results, leave for 24 hours. Do not expose treated surfaces to sunlight during this process.

Remember FullDip® Liquid Vinyl is not a permanent colour coating, you will be able to peel it off whenever you want, leaving no trace on the original colour.

HOW TO USE FULLDIP® 4 LITRE BUCKETS (140 UK fl.oz.)

Prepare the surface to be painted as explained above. Clean and dry thoroughly (see HOW TO USE FULLDIP® LIQUID VINYL? Section 1).

FullDip® 4 litre buckets are ready to use. It is not necessary to mix it with other products, such as diluent. In order to layer it on, you will ned a spray gun. We strongly recommend using the gun we have developed specially for FullDip® Liquid Vinyl. It will give you a high quality result for a very low price.

  1. Stir well

Stir the liquid vinyl with a spatula, stick or mixing spoon for a few minutes, make sure there are no lumps or pigment rests at the bottom. Get the deposit of your spray gun filled up.

  1. Spraying

An electric spray gun is best, but a spray gun with a compressor will do too. If using a compressor, it is important to use a 1.8 – 2 mm nipple to minimise the pressure as much as possible. It is very important to avoid pulverization; the gun FD650 makes very low or zero pulverization.

Apply at least 4 layers of liquid vinyl. For best results, 4 to 6 coats.

Make the first layer be homogeneous and thin, so as to ensure perfect adherence of the next layers and to prevent it from dripping. Drop marks, if happen, will be noticeable in the final result. The following coats should be thicker for these reasons:

  • Avoid pulverization effect.
  • Reach optimal results and usage of the paint.
  • It will save you time.
  • Final results will be satisfying, giving a deep pigmentation and smooth appearance and touch.

Let sit for 10 minutes between layers. Once you have finished, full drying takes around 24 hours. Do not handle, move or expose to direct sunlight during this process.

HOW TO PROTECT THE PARTS I DO NOT WANT TO PAINT

Liquid Vinyl is very easy to peel off, but covering the sections you do not want to colour will save you time later on. The best way to do this is to use paper or plastic and masking tape. Just cover it as you would do before applying any other kind of paint.

It is better to take it off just after you finish working with FullDip®, when it is still wet. Waiting until it’s dry, you take the risk of peeling it off as it will be joined to the paper and tape.

FULLDIP® FAQ

FOR HOW LONG WILL FULLDIP® REMAIN IN GOOD CONDITION?

There are different factors that will affect the state of FULLDIP® liquid vinyl, such as the number of layers you applied, weather conditions, daily care… We recommend appliying at least 4 or 5 layers in order to achieve a suitable thickness.

Liquid vinyl becomes a resistant and elastic coat when it dries, but it is possible to observe FULLDIP® cracking or peeling off at the edges if it constantly faces scratches, friction and other kinds of external aggressions. In case of cracking or scratching, it is possible to repair the surface reapplying liquid vinyl in that section. It is not necessary to peel all the vinyl off and start again.

Correctly taken care of, FULLDIP® liquid vinyl can remain in perfect condition for 3-4 years.
